The Weekend…Brunchanista

September 29, 2014 by robincharmagne 6 Comments

Empire State South

Hi Pretties,
How was your weekend? Has everyone recovered from last Thursday night’s tv watching? Are you ready for this week? Too much fun! I’ve posted a fair amount on the blog about brunch. It is my favorite meal of the week! Luckily, for brunch lovers like me, The A has so many great restaurants to choose from. If you’re in The A and want an inexpensive brunch option, try Empire State South.

Empire State South, brunch

Empire State South serves up Southern cuisine but with a twist. The brunch menu offers a real variety of entrees from steel cut oatmeal, smoked pork loin with boiled egg and tomatoes, hanger steak with squash, muscadine, sausage, chanterelles (fancy name for mushrooms), and eggs or my favorite brunch choice the English Muffin with breakfast sausage, greens, candied bacon, egg, pepper jelly, and grits. The English Muffin breakfast is so good. The bacon is sweet while the grits served in a cute iron dish are creamy, not runny or stiff as a board. The poached egg a top the english muffin was prepared just right – no yolk running all over the plate! For your sweet tooth, there’s pecan pie and lemon streusel.
Empire State South, brunch
The price point for brunch is $5 to $14, that’s a steal for fresh food sourced regionally. Empire State South is open for brunch from 10:30am to 3:00pm. After feasting on a delicious brunch, try a game of bocce ball in the courtyard or a cup of java from the coffee bar.

What are your favorite brunch spots in your neck of the woods?
