The warm waters of the Caribbean Sea were quite relaxing and something about the water put me in a reflective mood, thinking back to when I first learned to swim along with my favorite girls. I’ve been swimming for a long time, even took a drown proofing class in college. I do love the water but hate to get my hair wet, thanks to my wonderful and fast braider, I dived in that deep blue sea with no hesitation, just fond memories of back kicks, breast strokes, and yes swimming caps!

Wow, it’s Thursday already, aren’t you glad? I mentioned in a previous post that I was preparing for vacation in a few weeks so today drum roll please, I’m starting a mini-series of things every beach bum needs for a few lazy days chillaxin’! First up – the Tote Bag.

Tote bags are true fashion accessories and come in a variety of fabrics such as canvas, leather, and plastic. Lots of options beyond the traditional straw bag. It’s essential for carrying all your goodies – phone, tablet, books/magazines, lip balm, sunscreen, water bottle, and of course your beach towel. Choose a tote bag with shoulder straps so it’s easier to carry across a sandy beach. Now if you want to get super cute, match your tote bag to your swimsuit and cover-up! Can you say beach babe! Yep you still wanna be pretty on the beach. My pick is a tote in two major trends, black and white and floral. It’s a big bag with shoulder straps and matches my swimsuit!

Summer Is Almost Here

Hi Pretties,
Do you know what tomorrow is? Yep the first day of Summer. I’m looking forward to vacation season and my Summer vacation trip is booked! Woohoo! I am a notorious over-packer, multiple handbags, shoes, you name it. I take everything I might need while on vaca which of course means always checking luggage because of my 10 ton suitcase(s). So this year I’m trying something different. Alex over at Fashion Travel Girl created a “minimalist” packing list.

Now I’m already on edge with the 1-handbag and 2-pairs of shoes, but I’m going to give it a whirl. At least I’ll have more room for the fridge magnets, t-shirts, key rings and shot glasses that somehow end up on my vaca shopping list! Hi Pretties,
Today I’m giving you, my lovely readers a peek at what I’ve been up to lately with a feature called Currently, hosted by Kaelah Bee over at Honeybee in the City.

Currently…
READING: About nine magazines on my Nook, including my new favorite, the U.K. based The Simple Things. A laid back look at life and living. I do believe I have at least 300 magazines in the house I need to do something with soon. Much easier to manage electronically.
WONDERING: Why I haven’t gotten back into my workout routine yet. It’s June… Stalled…
FEELING THANKFUL: For my parents, 72 years young, married 50+ years, and the backbone of our family.
EATING: Edy’s Slow Churned Butter Pecan Ice Cream with 1/2 the fat. So smooth, creamy and chocked full of pecans. Even with half the fat, still have to eat it in moderation.
WATCHING: Investigation Discovery Channel– a guilty pleasure, my faves, Fatal Encounters, Nightmare Next Door, and I(Almost) Got Away With It. I have to take a break from it, too real sometimes. In my next life, I’m definitely going to be a Police Detective.
WORKING ON: Vacation planning. Sightseeing, dining and shopping, oh my, planning is half the fun! I see a fruity drink with a cute umbrella in my future.
LOVING: Blogging is the best!
ATTEMPTING: To live in the present, it ain’t easy when you have so many good things on the horizon!
WANTING: Milk and cookies…
