Joy Noel,
I just love this season. Now the weather in The A is abnormally warm and does not at all feel like December but the holiday season is on and popping!! This means holiday parties, which means bring out the sequins. They say diamonds are a girl’s best friend, but seriously – who does not love a shiny sparkly dress covered in sequins? However, this beautiful fabrication requires some special care and attention.
Sequin Care
1 – Follow the instructions on the garment’s label. It has important information on what not to do to your garment
2 – Sequin garments can be hand-washed. Use the tub to give you plenty of room to properly move and manipulate the garment. Be sure to turn it inside out to protect the fabric
3 – DO NOT use the clothes dryer. Lay flat and let the garment air dry
4 – Use a clothes steamer to remove any wrinkles after drying. Again, turn inside out and be careful not to hold the steamer too long in any one area
5 – Store in a cool, dark space, fold – do not hang
You can take your garment to a professional dry cleaner, but do ask them about how they clean sequin garments. Are you a real Diva with lots of sequin dresses and such? Well then you need one of these. But to start with, try these archival boxes to keep your garment in good condition for years to come.
The picture above is from my fave Eloquii, it is their Collared Sequin Dress and yes it is on sale – $59 dresses with code WHOA! Notice it is folded and laid flat!
Are you rocking sequins this holiday season?
