Turtleneck Next Level – OOTD #118

February 19, 2020 by robincharmagne 2 Comments

Hello pretties,

Back on the OOTD train with THE OG outfit – something cute on the top and jeans on the bottom. That outfit combo is the most flexible when building a casual wardrobe, with endless options for top and bottom. Today I’m rocking a classic – the turtleneck but with a twist.

As soon as I saw this sweater with the open shoulder on Eloquii, I snagged it. The open shoulder is a nice detail without being too revealing or exposed in cooler months. Turtlenecks are great wardrobe builders and immediately give an outfit a bit of polish. They can be a good addition to suits and dresses. But in true form, I paired this one with a pair of plain comfy jeans that would fit nice and snug in a pair of black to the knee boots. I finished off the look with a round crossbody bag. Take a peek…

This OOTD was super easy to put together and I am pleased with how it turned out. I and ready for shopping or a casual night out. And, this turtleneck will be in heavy rotation, provided this crazy Georgia weather stays consistently Winter, because clearly Mother Nature appears to be forgetting the seasons.

What is your wardrobe staple? That one thing that you always feel good wearing?

Skirts And Sneakers – OOTD #117

February 12, 2020 by robincharmagne 4 Comments

Hello pretties,

OOTDs are back!! Would you believe I have not posted an outfit in over 1 year. Seriously, almost 2 years this month. Playing dress-up is one of the most fun and truly creative aspects of having a blog. Fashion provides an outlet for freedom of expression from head to toe! There is no shortage of looks as fashions change from season to season.

The Backstory

I started including outfit looks from the inception of robincharmagne. I posted on Instagram, “I been posing” with a pic of me as a little girl. And, it’s quite true, I have always liked clothes so it just made sense. You can view the first OOTD here. Fast forward to 2016 when my family experienced the loss of two immediate family members and I just didn’t feel like blogging, let alone doing a whole photoshoot. But what was worst, I started eating my grief. I comforted myself with food. I took a few pics here and there but just couldn’t get back in the groove of weekly outfits. Something had to change.

Same Thing Different Year

Fast forward a couple more years to 2018 when yet another immediate family member passed away. I was so done with everything including blogging. Again, I would eek out a post or two but there was no consistency. I was just a sad sack who again ate her grief. As the pounds piled on, I said well when I lose these pounds, I will get back on my blog and back to styling outfits. Needless to say, that didn’t happen.

The Change

In 2020, I was fired up to restore my robincharmagne to the vision I once dreamed of before everything changed. But, I was reluctant to even book a photoshoot. I thought to myself, “I have gained so much weight and you can’t even tell I am down 20 pounds. I will wait until I lose some more pounds before I get back to the OOTDs.” WTH? Naw sis! I could hear the words from a powerful Tedx Talk with the lovely and talented Cece Olisa. She hit it on the head, “Dont wait on your weight to live the life you want”! I booked the shoot and picked an outfit. Go me!

What I’m Wearing

This week’s look is inspired by all the fashionistas on the web rocking tops, skirts, and kicks. Yep ditching the heels for a comfy pair of sneakers. This look is clearly a departure from my usual uniform of jeans and a cute top. But, the contrast of this ornate sweater from Loralette and gold metallic skirt from, wait for it…Walmart for $20, with the black and gold Nike sneakers make for a fun look. I was so comfortable, the skirt moved with such ease, I could have worn this outfit all day… take a peek…

Shop The Look

This is a look I really could rock in all seasons – changing the sweater to a graphic t-shirt in warmer weather and rocking a lighter sneaker. Are you rocking this casual but fun look?

Velvet Florals – OOTD #116

February 28, 2018 by robincharmagne 14 Comments

floral-kimono-robincharmagne

Hello pretties,
The kimono was one of my favorite fashion pieces from Spring 2017 and I still love it in Winter 2018. I snagged this lovely piece from a favorite online boutique Feed N Clothe Me. Velvet fabrics are so popular and then to find a velvet kimono, I could not go wrong, take a peek…

Ponchos Bubbles And Booties – OOTD #101

December 16, 2016 by robincharmagne 4 Comments

hiking-boots-robincharmagne
Hello pretties,
Booties inspired this whole outfit. I ordered these from Ashley Stewart and was pleasantly surprised to see the red and blue shoestrings, so cute. This OOTD is all about no fuss, all fringe, easy casual dressing with two pieces right from my closet. The poncho is old and y’all know the bubblenecklaces trend was huge. I have them in every color and this one matched the shoestrings perfectly. Take a peek…

A poncho is a stylish alternative to a coat or jacket!

Click To Tweet

I like Fall and Winter weather, but I do not like to wear coats. Ponchos are a stylish and warm alternative to a coat or jacket. This poncho is in a good weight wool with my favorite, fringe details. I styled this without any layering pieces, no camisole, t-shirt, or turtle neck and didn’t feel a bit cold on what was a blustery shooting day. The bottoms are just denim jeggings which feel like pjs for real. And, the black wedge heel hiking boots. This is a super quick outfit when you get that last minute brunch invite, holiday shopping trip, or tree trimming party.

What past trend are you still rocking?

Hello pretties,
Pink is one of my favorite colors, but pastel pink? Wasn’t sure about this light color in these colder temps. I love how this OOTD turned out and let me tell y’all, the gloves were not even part of the outfit but it was so dang cold and my hands were freezing…LOL. If you are looking for a Thanksgiving ensemble, this is it, take a peek…

Plaid Fringe – OOTD #98

November 9, 2016 by robincharmagne 12 Comments

plaid-cardigan-hand-robincharmagne

Hello pretties,
It is finally cold cooler in The A. Not cold enough for a jacket or a big ol’ winter coat, but something with sleeves like this cardi is perfect. Of course the fringe caught my eye – just enough to add interest, in a traditional plaid print, take a peek…

I love this drapey cardigan and of course the fringe, yesss. The fabric is a medium weight – between a shirt and a sweater, so it will transition well from Fall to Winter as a layering piece. And plaid of course is THE fabric print for these cooler months. This gets me in the mood for football games, hot chocolate, and trips to the apple orchards of North Georgia. Paired with a white tee and distressed jeans, this outfit is good for any casual event – brunch (my fave), movies, or a Netflix night.

Are you rocking plaid this season?

Be Easy – OOTD #96

October 19, 2016 by robincharmagne 12 Comments

black-booties-with-fringe-robincharmagne

Hi pretties,
Be Easy is the theme of today’s OOTD. There are times when you just want something to throw on and go, but still loo pulled together. Well it’s all in the details. Fringe is a favorite fashion detail and I am loving it on these suede booties. The weather in The A is being wonky right now but it is cool enough to rock some booties…take a peek.

black-cardigan-robincharmagne

This outfit is a no-brainer. The booties are very comfy at just the right heel height, paired with a black tee, jeggings and long cardigan. I wanted to try the long cardi trend, but being vertically challenged at five feet, I was apprehensive. In comes Gwynnie Bee, remember here and here, the easy to use clothing rental service. From the site, I “shopped” the long cardigans and added this cutie to my closet. Just a few days later, it arrived on my doorstep and I love it. But the best part is I can keep it as long as I like, so you will be seeing it again. Have a trend you want to try or need something for a special event, give Gwynnie Bee a whirl and use this discount code to get a month free!

What fashion detail would like to try? Fringe, faux leather? Do tell!!

Silver Star – OOTD #87

July 6, 2016 by robincharmagne 10 Comments

silver-cold-shoulder-sweater-robincharmagne

Hello pretties,
Silver or you could call it grey is one of my favorite colors. But, what’s crazy about that is I didn’t actually know that until I looked at my Instagram account and realized, I wear a lot of grey. Add that to the list with black, my often worn favorite.

Another oldie but goodie, this sweater with hints of silver threads, falls in that category we talked about in the last OOTD of being sexy in a subtle way. The cold-shoulder style top is so popular this season and I am here for it. Brace yourselves because I am rocking that style right up to the fall season. The key hole is another detail that ups the sexy of this sweater. Now you might be thinking a sweater? It is hot as fish grease but the fabric is so light weight and the open details make it airy as well. It is perfect for a restaurant or movie theater, which are notoriously cold in the summer months.

These jeans, these jeans! Soooo, I purchased these in December and never wore them. Fast forward to July 2016, I try them on and guess what, they were kinda big. Winning! Get ready to see these and the white pair in other OOTDs. Paired with simple silver dangly earrings, big slouchy satchel, and block heel mules, if you catch me on Friday or Saturday night I will be rocking this uniform.
