Mid April But I’m Still Chill – Monday Musing

April 18, 2016 by robincharmagne Leave a Comment

Hi pretties,
I hope you had a most fabulous weekend! I missed you all, but Spring Break was AMAZINGLY AWESOME, more to come on that! Yes we are 3/4 through 2016. If you have kiddos, they only have a couple – three months before school is out and then we are half way through the year. I can not even believe how time is flying by at a breakneck speed. I mean May is in 14 days or so, are you panicking? Do you feel like you have accomplished everything you wanted to in the first three months of the year? I did not, my list is still long, but I am so chill about it. Here are three reasons why it is all good.

Keep Going

1. There are still 9 months left in this year to do whatever is lingering on your to-do list. So what if you did not do it all in the first quarter, you were not ready, you were not prepared, etc. That is perfectly OK, it is never too late to start. Just don’t give up.
2. There is always a reason for delay. When I am on my way to some place and I hit a traffic snag – instead of getting mad or upset, I think perhaps I am being protected from something, being slowed down for a reason. Maybe that is why you did not start that project, or change jobs, or try a new lipstick. It just wasn’t the right time. Timing is everything. In His time and not our own.
3. You are not alone! There are other people in your same boat so why trip? Find someone who continues to work on their goals and partner up. Encourage each other with honest chats or positive quotes or uplifting scripture.

Perfection does not get things done, but our persistence does! So, Spring Break is over and we’re in 2nd quarter, whatchu got planned for Summer?

Recommit To A Healthy Lifestyle – 3 Questions To Answer

March 14, 2016 by robincharmagne 12 Comments

fitlife-bracelet-how-to-recommit-to-fitness

Hello pretties,
Recommit to your health today! My new motivation was prompted by this little bracelet from FitLife. I saw it on Instagram and thought how cool to lead a fit life and to have this pretty bracelet as a reminder of my goal everyday. Now you have one less hour to do this, but the sun will be up a lot longer so that leaves more daylight for some fitness fun – walking, running, or biking right? Yep I am ready to get back on a path to a healthier self. But before you dive in, here are some things to consider:

Recommit Questions

1 – What is your end game? – Identify your why or whys. Is it a short term goal such as high school/college reunion, your cousin’s wedding, your birthday or that upcoming vacation? Vacation has been my why every vacation season. These short term goals are perfectly fine, but think about developing habits that create long term sustainable success.
2 – Who is your support? Now I am not talking about “accountability partners”…side eye. I really hate that term. Let’s think about who you can call when you are about to grab a doughnut from the break room or cake at the birthday dinner. Or for me, grabbing a treat while in line at Michael’s, Hobby Lobby or T.J. Maxx. This person is not a cheerleader, but a problem solver who will ask you, what’s really going on? Do you need to talk out a specific problem or issue? Do you need to vent? So over time, you get to the root of why you fall off the wagon and you have solutions for getting back on track. Remember, it’s not what you’re eating, it’s what eating you?

3 – How will you do this? Take some time to write down the plan and then build your arsenal of success tools. Meal prep? Water bottle? Fitbit? My Fitness Pal? Do you have the tools to be successful in your recommit? I chose Weight Watchers as my tool of choice to manage my food, water, and exercise.

As a bonus, add a visual reminder like the FitLife bracelet or it could a pic of those jeans you can no longer wear or whatever you choose to remind you and encourage you to continue making positive changes in your health and wellness.

What tools do you use to stay committed to a healthier lifestyle?

One Surefire Way To Finish This Year Strong

November 2, 2015 by robincharmagne 18 Comments

finish-strong-goals-robincharmagne

Hi Pretties,
Can y’all believe only 7 weekends until Christmas? I’m excited about that but sad too knowing the holiday season will end just as quickly as it began. What are you going to do with these last 60 days of 2015? You still have more than enough time to do one thing. What’s that you say? You can meet some of the goals you established for the year. Setting and meeting goals always sounds so serious, but goals don’t have to be grandiose, a goal can be anything you would like to achieve in your personal or professional life. Something as simple as re-arranging your spice cabinet, to losing 10 pounds, or learning how to salsa dance. Of course you can go big with something like start a business or enroll in a college or university. The point is to do something. To help you get started, I created an easy step-by-step guide to Finish Strong in 2015.

So what does meeting goals do for you? Well first and foremost, you get that feeling of accomplishment. Who doesn’t like feeling like a boss. And once you are in boss mode, you have the confidence to complete any goal. I picked two goals for myself – 1)Finish my gallery wall and 2)Update my About page…again. So you’re not in this alone, we are finishing strong together!

What goal(s) would you like to finish this year?

Who’s On Television – Monday Musing

September 28, 2015 by robincharmagne 20 Comments

vintage-television-on-robincharmagne

Hello there,
I am not even going to say it, or rather type it, but y’all know October starts on Thursday right? I swear September is over and for me, it was a blur. However, there were notable events in September – Fashion Week, Football Season, Emmy Awards, Papal Visit, and many television season premiers! Yep a ton of new shows premiered last week, and I caught four of my old favorites and maybe a new favorite. Today’s Monday Musing is about television and might be a bit controversial. Here goes!

Therefore, the television got some serious use as I watched in order – Rosewood, Empire, Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal, and How To Get Away With Murder. I cannot say I was bowled over by any of the season premiers. Rosewood, a new favorite stars Morris Chestnut, he was handsome as ever, and the plot line was not horrible. Of course, the other shows are old favorites and were just okay for me.

However, by Friday, after watching everything, I noticed one consistent element of all 5 shows – a LGBT character or story line. So wait, this post is not for or against anyone’s lifestyle, I am not judging, I got my own ish. This post is about the television landscape in 2015 and your thoughts as television viewers. I thought how is it that every show, including Rosewood, that I watched had that particular story line. For me, I am on the fence. For example on How To Get Away With Murder, it was a twisty kinda thing with Annalise – was not expecting that turn of events. Hmmm, interesting, but explains why the lawyer lady was so emotional about the whole thing.

I like watching these crazy, unpredictable shows. However, I was thinking is this just a sign of the times or do the networks have a specific agenda? Did y’all notice? Does it change the tenor of the shows? Is it necessary? Do parents have any particular issues with LGBT characters or story lines? Perhaps the producers are attempting to have more diverse characters and stories. I do not know…

What did y’all watch? What are your thoughts? Don’t be skeered!!!

3 Ways To Love Mondays – Monday Musing

September 14, 2015 by robincharmagne 12 Comments

3-Ways-To-Love-Every-Monday-robincharmagne

Happy Monday,
It’s an oxymoron because I really don’t like Mondays at all. I think I’ve mentioned it is my least favorite day of the week. I mean we work basically 5 out of the 7 days and some more than that, so that means we work wayyy more than we rest. I mean the weekend should really be considered Friday, Saturday and Sunday. 4 days work and 3 days off, now if one these Presidential candidates proposed that change, they would definitely get my vote! But hey, we can’t have the rest of the week without Monday. So, here’s how to make Monday the star of your week.

The Best Laid Plans – Monday Musing

August 31, 2015 by robincharmagne 4 Comments

making-plans-robincharmagne

Happy last day of August,
Yep, this month is a wrap! I feel like I woke today and August was pretty much gone! As always, I hope y’all had a grand weekend. I had the best weekend planned with 4 events – 2 on Saturday and 2 on Sunday. Well, you know what they say, “The best laid plans of mice and men often go astray.” That is exactly what happened to me over the weekend. I had outfits planned and ready for each gathering; although one event had a dress code so it was easy peasy. So I made it to the first activity which was a workout session with my favorite fitness expert. She invited me to hot yoga! Have y’all tried yoga or hot yoga? I had been to a yoga class but not like this with the room heated. I will say I was apprehensive at first. I pictured myself dripping buckets of sweat and smelling really bad. But it was so chill, not literally, and serene. The room was warm and the poses challenging, but it was a super good workout and I really liked the observance of silence. Really helped with being mindful and intentional during the class. I would definitely recommend this form of yoga.

After class, I was all set to go to the next event when a family member asked for my help which involved helping them through recuperation for the weekend. Well that changed the whole weekend, but I wasn’t upset about it. Family comes first and it is a blessing to have health – boy have I learned that, hence adding more healthy activities to my life, like yoga. So the outfits went back to the closet and I spent the rest of the weekend being a good helper. I really enjoyed my house guest, my home is peaceful and quiet and I think that’s exactly what she needed.

I made my plans to get all dolled up and do this, that and the other this weekend. But God had other plans and gave me a chance to bless someone this weekend with a willing heart and helping hands. Hey, I hadn’t planned to have a design client and a style client in 2015. But, there was another plan and I didn’t say nooo that’s on the 2016 calendar, nope was grateful for these two awesome clients and put the wheels in motion to change the plans and get to work.

There will be many more weekends with all kinds of activities and I’ll plan to partake to the fullest, but if needed, I’m open to plans changing and being wherever He needs me to be or do whatever He needs me to do.

What did you plan this weekend? How did it work out for you?

Connection And Community – Monday Musing

August 17, 2015 by robincharmagne 6 Comments

Connection-and-Community-robincharmagne

Hello Pretties,
Was your weekend grand? I hope you did something, everything or nothing. It’s all good. This Monday is another day of musing about things that are top of mind lately. Last Monday, I shared with you all about a new social media tool Periscope, that is growing and how fear almost, almost kept me from diving in. I watched quite a few “scopes”as they are affectionately called, and people who use Periscope are “scopers” and really good scopes are “dope scopes.” Yep the word dope is back in fashion. Periscope is just another thing on my blogging journey. But I realized while watching the scopes, how I almost missed two important pieces of blogging – Connection and Community.

Hello pretties,
How was your weekend? The A lived up to the “Hotlanta” title, it was very warm, pretty but warm. I had a very good weekend with family and of course some blogging biz too. Since Monday is not my day, I wanted to do something to make Mondays more special, so from time to time, I’ll have Monday Musing. These will be personal, hopefully insightful posts about any topic. This first Monday Musing is No Fear.
