I had no plans for visiting this unique destination, but a deal popped up on a Thursday, booked the flight on Friday, booked the hotel on Saturday, and flew out on Wednesday. YOLO! It is cold right now and traveling might not be top of mind, but it is always travel season. One of things that folks say most often is “I can’t afford to travel.” I get it, travel is not cheap and can be very expensive with flights, hotels, food, new clothes, souvenirs, etc. it adds up. But you can travel, just by developing new habits to help you save money.
1. If you can’t see it, you can’t spend it! Open a savings account with an on-line bank. Yeah I know interest rates are between .75% and 2.00% but you’ll be squirreling away money for your travels. Start with $50 a month and by year’s end you will have saved over $600 to spend on your travels. It’s worth it
2. I love my Caramel Macchiato, but real talk, it is on the pricey side. Skip the fancy coffee everyday and save it for a cup of espresso on the Avenue des Champs-Élysées or a sweet red in Napa
3. If you are drinking the H2O which I know you are, ditch those plastic bottles and invest in a metal bottle. Let’s do the math – water is like $1.00 a bottle on the low end, 1 bottle a day/per month = $30X12=$360 a year on dang water. Filling your own bottle with tap water could build a fat savings for fun travel
4. Couponing is all the rage right now. Start clipping coupons from newspapers, online sites, and mobile sites. The trick to couponing, coupon what you actually use day-to-day. It is not a deal if you wind up not using the product. Keep those coupons organized so you use them efficiently on your next shopping trip
5. Get an extra gig! You have talents and gifts, let them work for you! I’m in HR and I can write resumes/cover letters or provide interview tips. Not sure how to best use your talents, start here. Yes folks will pay $5 for all kinds of expertise

My favorite time of the year is humming right along. Finally finished all the decorations, whew! I have been taking some road trips, which kinda slowed down some of my decorating and such, but I am back on track. However, road trips are so much fun and a quick way to rest and recharge! Right at the holidays is a good time for a short getaway, before things get super crazy and your calendar fills up. Now for me a road trip is 5 hours or less, anything over that, I would really prefer to catch a flight. However, with the right gear, you will be comfy and cozy on the way to an exciting destination!

So today is my Friday, love a short week. It has been awhile since I’ve posted a Let’s Go, but it’s my vacation month so it’s back. I was totally enchanted, yes enchanted with the LEGOLAND Hotel. Who didn’t play with LEGOs as a kid or stepped on one as an adult? I was totally amazed at this fun vacay spot, perfect for the whole family, take a peek(pic heavy, may load a tad bit slower).
The LEGOLAND Hotel is located in Winter Haven Park, Florida with 152 guest rooms and suites with four unique themes: Pirate, Kingdom, Adventure, and LEGO Friends. There is a free full breakfast every day along with interactive play areas, all day entertainment, a disco elevator, and a pool area complete with LEGO floaters. The kids will love the treasure hunt in every room along with LEGO prizes. But best of all is the workshop where guests can build their own projects with a Master LEGO Model Builder, sign me up! The designers of this hotel have done an amazing job recreating the LEGO vibe. And of course, there is shopping and dining at the LEGOLAND Florida. Add this spot to your summer travel destinations!

Well, we are in the swing of travel season with Spring Break commencing and families starting to take those first trips. Nothing can dampen the joy of vacation fun faster than coming back to find your castle pillaged by robbers and thieves. The good people at Houzz have come up with 10 ways to keep your home safe while you’re out having a blast! Check it out!
These are great and might seem like common sense, but you know how giddy we get planning for vacay and we might not secure the castle as well as we would like. Here are a few more tips to add to your checklist:
1. Um, don’t tell the world you’re on vacation via social media. Crooks are on social media too.
2. Stop your mail while you are away so that thieves don’t see a full mailbox and assume you’re not home.
3. Shut off indoor water valve, a flood, even a small one, is going to cause damage.
4. Disconnect the garage door opener so any unwelcome visitor cannot use a universal opener to gain entry.
5. Check this post before you leave to keep your castle safe.
I had not thought of some of these especially the water valve or the garage door opener. Of course, nosy neighbors are a good defense. If you have a Mrs. Kravitz (y’all remember her?) in your neighborhood, she will be your eyes and ears while you’re enjoying some R&R.
