Go Red For Women

February 7, 2014 by robincharmagne 6 Comments

go red 2

Hello, Happy Happy Joy Joy, it’s Friday! And, a special Friday, for sure. It’s Go Red for Women Day in support of Heart Health! Did you know heart disease is the #1 killer of women ahead of all forms of cancer? Yes lovelies we’ve got to take care of ourselves by managing our weight, blood pressure and our stress. You know I love a good infographic and the American Heart Association put together this one to commemorate 10 years of Go Red for Women.
Go Red for Women, heart health
And of course we have to talk fashion; here’s three beauties in red for under $40 bucks. Yeah I said under $40.
Go red for women, red dress

I love the long gown, so elegant but rather simple. Just add a minadiere and a pretty pumpand you’re out the door.

Are you wearing Red today? Oh yeah, I am! Have happy weekend!

One more day to enter the Valentine’s Day Giveaway hosted by me and some amazing blogger friends click here for a chance to win $350!

50 by 50 Challenge

January 2, 2014 by robincharmagne 24 Comments

Hello,
I’ve had this post in draft for some time, a little apprehensive about putting myself out there as they say. But, 2014 is a special year for me and my twin as we are turning 50! Yep THE BIG 5-O! I am so excited as I have some amazing plans to celebrate this milestone 50th birthday. But I have some reservations too. See, I want to be 50, Fit, and Fabulous and I’m a little sad to say, I got the Fabulous but lacking on the Fit,LOL!! I’ve been carrying around a 6-year-old, yeah the average 6-year-old weighs 50 pounds. That sucks. So the challenge is on – lose 50 pounds by my 50th birthday!

Why am I posting this you ask? Accountability first and foremost. Knowing y’all are watching motivates me to stay the course. And second, my selfish desire to have a cheering section that pats me on the back, but gives me a kick in the butt when I’m tripping as I invariably will trip out – translation complain, on occasion. I have a ridiculous sweet tooth and avoiding Oatmeal cookies and Vanilla wafers is gonna be hard. But forgoing sweets is well worth it towards a path to better health. The ultimate goal is to start and maintain a more healthy lifestyle!

Because carbs and sugar seem to be my proverbial Achilles heel, I’ll be closely watching my intake of both, combined with getting this body moving and lots of water. Now my starting weight is under lock and key until the end of the challenge in July. But here’s “before” shot – yep, thighs for days LOL!! I’ll be updating y’all on my progress the first Thursday of each month. The main 50 by 50 page will stay up until the challenge is over. Anybody out there taking the healthy route, feel free to join me. I could use some company.

For A Cause And A Cupcake

October 28, 2013 by robincharmagne Leave a Comment

Hi Pretties,
How was your weekend? It was C-O-L-D here but that didn’t stop me from having an awesome weekend of fun with some very good friends! Saturday was the Heart Walk. Over 1,500 walkers braved 30 degree temps to walk for a great cause, raising over $150,000. This was a special cause for me – my dear friend Jada, a 38-year-old healthy woman had not one but two stroke events. So I was very honored to be a part of Coach J’s Crew, who raised over $1500, exceeding our team goal I might add. To learn more about heart and stroke health, and the “Salty Six“, click here.

And yes after walking a 5K, we treated ourselves to cupcakes from Miss Mamie’s Cupcakes, winner of Food Network’s Cupcake Wars.

Miss Mamie’s is quite cute, with a vintage, girly vibe. There’s a cozy seating area to enjoy your sweet treats among tufted walls and ornate chandeliers. The cupcakes were not only pretty, but quite delicious. I also did a little shopping to finish my fall decorating. I hope you all had a great weekend and will have an even better week.

What’s in my Bag

February 1, 2013 by robincharmagne 6 Comments

Happy Friday Pretties,
It’s Go Red for Women Day in support of Heart Health! Pretties, it’s important to watch your weight and manage your stress. Visit the American Heart Association website for great information!

On to today’s post. I love the What’s in my Bag features because well, I’m nosey! So today I’m sharing my bag and it’s contents and like my shoes most of my bags are black. My everyday bag is the lovely Kristen. It’s by Coach whose bags I love, the quality is excellent and styling always on trend. This is a pretty big bag for me but I like that it holds all my stuff and it’s a shoulder strap so I can carry on my arm or as a crossbody.

I can cram a lot into this bag but I like having all my stuff with me!

My stuff

My stuff

Clockwise from the top:
1)Wallet Barney’s New York -I love the quilting and this wallet was a steal from Sawgrass Mills in Miami
2)Eyeglasses – I used to be really vain about these dang glasses, but when you have to hold the menu 10 feet away, you start carrying your glasses
3)Pink and Green glitter pen – perfect writing instrument…LOL
4)Tampon – yeah one lone tampon, just in case…
5)Jergens lotion – Tried and true with a fresh scent
6)Carmex – Tried and true and helps with my extra chapped lips
7)Keys – This Tiffany and Co. key ring was a gift from someone who is no longer in my life, very tempted to toss it in the trash but I do like it
8)Makeup bag Kate Spade – Another steal from my mini vaca in Miami last year from Sawgrass Mills
9)Phone Samsung Galaxy III – I love this phone and guess what? It was a refurb for $29 bucks – woowee, love a bargain
10)Pink and Green mints – tasty and beautifully packaged…LOL
11)Business Card case – cute Christmas gift from Mom and my new robincharmagne cards
12)Checkbook – Yeah I still carry and write checks – love this cover from my alma mater Emory University

You wanna know a secret, you think my bag is neat like that heck no, here’s my bag on any given day…
