No Fear – Monday Musing

Hello pretties,
How was your weekend? The A lived up to the “Hotlanta” title, it was very warm, pretty but warm. I had a very good weekend with family and of course some blogging biz too. Since Monday is not my day, I wanted to do something to make Mondays more special, so from time to time, I’ll have Monday Musing. These will be personal, hopefully insightful posts about any topic. This first Monday Musing is No Fear.

“I’ve been absolutely terrified every moment of my life – and I’ve never let it keep me from doing a single thing I wanted to do.” – Georgia O’Keeffe

I love this quote from Georgia O’Keeffe about fear. We all have it, it is inescapable and I think absolutely necessary. It is absolutely necessary to keep us from doing dumb stuff because we fear the consequences. But at its worst, fear can also keep us from doing good stuff, hence this post. We imagine every type and manner of calamity and truth is, none of that ish usually happens. It is never as bad as we think.

So, Periscope is yet another new free social media app that, in a nutshell, is live videos of folks chatting about anything that lasts for 24 hour then poof, it’s gone. I have been watching “scopers” for a few weeks, too scared to do a video. But, yesterday I decided, do it, yes decided. I was terrified, what if no one watches, what if I have a booger in my nose, what if, what if, what if. My heart was racing, but y’all I pressed that button to start the broadcast and scoped from my car! Got it done, whoo-hoooo and real talk, it was awful, really bad, but I’m totally okay with that because you must start somewhere. Thank goodness it would only last for 24 hours. For certain things, you really need to have your ducks in a row but for a simple video, it doesn’t have to be perfect, go for it!

Let fear propel you to do something scary!

I’m so happy I did the worst scope ever, it is part of getting better, my whole focus for 2015. Fear did not win. I may do more scopes and they’ll just get better and better. Feel your fear, but then do it anyway!

How do you deal with fear? How do you get over it and get things done?

I’m so proud of you! I’m trying to figure out what to do on periscope and I know how all that negative self talk can be.

I’ve been hearing a lot about Periscope, but I have not downloaded the app yet. I’m going to try to download it this week to see what everyone is talking about.
Fear is tough, but I’m trying to do more things that I’ve been afraid to try. Last week I used the weed eater for the first time. I’m always telling my mom that I wish I could do things like her, because she is fearless at tackling DIY projects. And she always tells me that I can. All that I have to do is just try it. So I took the weed eater off the hook in the garage and gave it a shot. And it wasn’t even hard until I messed up and the string came out of it…lol. But I plan on learning how to install the string and finishing up the job this week 🙂
