One more thing, the U.S. State department is holding Passport Acceptance Fairs for first timers. Here is a list of locations by state. Awesome time to snag that passport!
Check the travel updates for your upcoming trips and make sure you have everything in order. It would be heartbreaking to be ready to travel and not be able to because your documents are not valid.

Yes Neti, this actually happened to my friend on our trip to Amsterdam. She couldn’t board and had to get an emergency expedited passport!!
