Hello,
How is everyone doing? I hope you’re staying motivated and focused on your goals for the week. I shared with you last week that I’ll be working with a new client to glam up her home office. It’s great to have a space dedicated to work or your creative endeavors like reading, crafting, painting, cross word puzzles, whatever you do that needs a space. Here are some things to consider when setting up a home office.
space
Don’t relegate your office to the basement or attic. Select a space that you are very likely to actually use and that isn’t a dumping ground for the stuff that has no other “home” in the house. The space should be large enough to accommodate a desk, chair, computer, printer, and storage. If you plan to have other folks visit the space, make sure there is room for seating as well.
lighting
This is the most important aspect of your room, the lighting. A space with a window that brings in natural light is amazingly perfect. The rays from the sun up your mood and productivity. But don’t forget task lighting for your desk area. Bypass the traditional desk lamp and get creative with lighting that is functional but adds interest or texture to the space.
chair
Oh gosh, you betta get a good chair!!! Not one from the dining room or the kitchen or the card table. A real chair that is ergonomically sound. This is your splurge item. Take your time and try the chair out – seat in it, cross your legs, fold your legs, lean back, roll around. Make sure this chair works for you. Your tushy, neck and back will thank you later! You can choose leather or faux leather, but a chair in complimentary fabric would work well.
desk
The options for a good desk are endless. As with your chair, spend a little more and get a good desk with a large work space and some storage. You can choose wood, glass, metal or a combination. The stand-up desks are super popular right now. An office revamp might be a good time to try the trend.
whimsy
Whimsy?? Yes surround yourself with things that make you smile or LOL for real or brings to mind fond memories. My thing is travel so I would add this, this or this. There are no rules here, add whatever you like!
It is nice to have something living in your space, greenery or fresh flowers is a lovely touch!
Have you revamped your office or creative space lately?

These are great tips. My office feels as if it is constantly a work in progress! I am in desperate need of a new (better) chair. And a thorough cleaning!

Yes Beckey, girl get a cute and comfy chair!! My office area is the same way, always changing it up!
I need you to glam up my office, but since I no longer work at home…never mind. I do however, need to declutter and brighten up the walls in our library then perhaps I would work in there and not at the kitchen table.

Hey Antionette, yes two good projects for you. Decluttering your space also declutters the mind!
Such good tips and I agree that the space should not be a dumping ground for stuff. My only regret is that I did not get a good chair and settled for an orange college dorm chair. My space is a corner of my bedroom because I have no where else to write down my thoughts and I can just roll outta my chair and into my bed at an ungodly hour. . . LOL!

Thanks for this post. I’m looking to create a makeup station in my room. So, this comes in handy
