Hello pretties,
Fit is so important in fashion. Fit can make or break a perfectly good outfit. I wore these white distressed jeans in a previous post(yes I am wearing the heck out of these jeans) with a long tunic top. Well I so loved that look, I shopped my closet and added this green tunic. The look was OK, but not great, take a peak…

I purchased this top from hsn.com probably 2 years ago and waited too long to return it so it ended up in my closet. The off-the-shoulder look is my bae so I was thinking this would be a great pairing. I was not really thrilled with this look. I love the bottoms but this top is way too big. Too flowy which actually adds weight. The sleeves are way too long for a 5 foot diva, although I could have rolled the sleeves up. Fit is so important to making an outfit sing.
Get A Better Fit
1. Don’t buy your size by number, spend 5 minutes taking your measurements and shop by your measurements
2. Long over lean works well to slim the body, but make sure the lean top is a bit more fitted to give you a shape
3. Use accessories to deflect from a poor fit; such as a belt, a scarf or even cross-body bag
Overall this is a good combo if the top was less flowy and billowy. You can find a similar top here, jeans here, and sandals here. I will continue to rock this silhouette, it’s my fave!
What do you do to get a good fit?

Great tips! I always try things on in the store, regardless of how I feel, to make sure it fits. I hate going back to the store to return something.

Hey Whitney,
Thank you! Yes I try on too in-store!Love it when something fits really well!
I love the tunic and it is a bit loose. If you know someone who sews you can have them cut the sleeves off, take in the sides and shoulder area, shorten the sleeves then reattach the sleeves. Sounds like a lot but it’s about a 15 minute job. Yes, I sew… lol
Hey Robin, now you are on to something! I had not even thought about having it altered. I may look into that!
I do love those jeans! But you are right the shirt is just a tad too overwhelming. I wonder if you could belt it or knot it at the waist…maybe? My favorite part of this post…you wrote “take a peek” and then a photo of you peeking through the tree! Ha! Made me chuckle and smile. But definitely keep rocking those jeans because they are fabulous and super flattering!

Thank you Shelbee! Yep the shirt was just too big, a belt would have helped a whole lot. Have great evening!
The color is just right and yes you could have sized down. I cannot tell how many times I loose out on refunds because I just forgot. I know you will figure out how to make it yours soon. If all else fails, this top will make a good coverup. I hardly shop online because my body has gone south, therefore I have to try before I buy.

Hi Neti, I forget… a lot. But a cover-up is a good idea. I will keep that in mind for sure!
I don’t really like to wear green, but this color looks so good it makes me want to buy something green. Fit definitely matters. I think you look flawless right now.
