LEGOLAND-Hotel-robincharmagne

Hello,
Thank you all so much for the love yesterday on my first photo-shoot. I have THE most lovely readers, I appreciate y’all!

So today is my Friday, love a short week. It has been awhile since I’ve posted a Let’s Go, but it’s my vacation month so it’s back. I was totally enchanted, yes enchanted with the LEGOLAND Hotel. Who didn’t play with LEGOs as a kid or stepped on one as an adult? I was totally amazed at this fun vacay spot, perfect for the whole family, take a peek(pic heavy, may load a tad bit slower).

The LEGOLAND Hotel is located in Winter Haven Park, Florida with 152 guest rooms and suites with four unique themes: Pirate, Kingdom, Adventure, and LEGO Friends. There is a free full breakfast every day along with interactive play areas, all day entertainment, a disco elevator, and a pool area complete with LEGO floaters. The kids will love the treasure hunt in every room along with LEGO prizes. But best of all is the workshop where guests can build their own projects with a Master LEGO Model Builder, sign me up! The designers of this hotel have done an amazing job recreating the LEGO vibe. And of course, there is shopping and dining at the LEGOLAND Florida. Add this spot to your summer travel destinations!

First Day Of Summer!

June 22, 2015 by robincharmagne 8 Comments

robincharmagne-summer-fun

Hello,
It’s Monday! Hope your Father’s Day was a celebration of the special men in your life! Yesterday was also the first day of Summer! It is time to get out and do some fun stuff. I hope to cross all these things off my list before the end of this season. Now some of these are local and easy to access but there’s a road trip in there too!

1 – I’m a real sci-fi fan, so Dragoncon is a must do. This is closer to the end of summer so I have time to plan my costume – Star Trek, SG-13, or Transformers, not sure yet
2 – In the making for years, the Atlanta Beltline is now a popular spot for Atliens for shopping, dining, and fitness with 22 miles of trails
3 – I haven’t been to the “Curb Market” for years, but I’m hearing so many good things about the new Auburn Sweet Market, especially the Sweet Auburn Bakery
4 – What better way to tour The A than the new Atlanta Streetcar and guess what, it is free for the rest of 2015
5 – Summer means vacation and vacation means summer hair. Love the braided top bun – appointment made
6 – Road trip! To the world’s largest yard sale – oh the bargains to be found, maybe even a million dollar painting
7 – Outdoor movie watching is too much fun and Atlantic Station has a great lineup including two of my faves – Ferris Bueller’s Day Off and Independence Day
8 – This project is probably not going to happen but this makes me want to get it done, perfect use of the space – clean the garage
9 – Another good time outside is an outdoor concert, and there is no shortage of wonderful venues in Atlanta, perhaps Chastain Park or Wolfcreek, wearing this
10 – This project I will get done, a new gallery wall for the living room

What are you doing this summer?

Tech Travel – Faves On Friday

May 29, 2015 by robincharmagne 6 Comments

Tech-travel-apps
Happy Friday!
A four-day work week is so awesome and this one is now over, let the weekend begin. Sooo, I had vlog for y’all but I could not get the lighting right – it rained all day it was just dark and gloomy, so I’ll save that until Monday. But now with Memorial Day in the rear view mirror, travel season is on and popping. To get you ready to travel, I have hand-picked some cool tech and apps that will make your travel season easy breezy.

1 – Losing your luggage or missing luggage is the worst travel nightmare. But don’t fret, Trakdot Luggage Tracker, saves the day. Just pop it in your luggage and you can find your luggage just by using the app on your phone ($49.99, for iOS and Android)
2- Are you traveling internationally, then WhatsApp is for you. You can send unlimited pictures, text messages, audio and video messages back home without any international charges using a WiFi connection (FREE for 1 yr, then .99 afterwards, for iOS and Android)
3 – If you rent a car, you’re gonna need to park it somewhere, SpotHero can find you the ideal spot. Locate and reserve a parking spot in less than a minute. Now it isn’t available in all cities, but you’ll find it in some major U.S. cities, like San Francisco, Washington, D.C., and Chicago, with more cities being added (FREE, for iOS and Android)
4 – Raincoat or fur boots, you’ll know what to pack using The Weather Channel app (FREE, for iOS and Android)
5 – I love airports, so many sights and sounds. But, they can be confusing, use GateGuru to help navigate the airport from dining options to restrooms(FREE, for iOS and Android)

Technology has seriously changed the face of travel with the advent of the Internet and smart phones. Most of these goodies are FREE and very easy to use. My favorite is WhatsApp, saved me a ton of money on my b-day vacay to London. You can even setup groups and chat with the whole fam at one time. Isn’t that cool?

What travel apps do you swear by? Have a fab weekend!

Let’s Go… Atlanta

August 28, 2014 by robincharmagne 6 Comments

Atlanta,

Hello,
The Labor Day Holiday is almost here, sort of the last hurrah for Summer, before the days get shorter and Fall is upon us! Great time for that last road-trip. What makes a road-trip great?
1) Pick a city that is not far away – four hours or less
2) Go lean – pick a city that won’t break the bank
3) Don’t plan every second of the trip – leave time to just wander and discover something special
4) Get a map, GPS can be unreliable
5)Check your tire pressure – low tires use more gas

Atlanta

So where are you going? Well if you’re close by Atlanta is a great getaway spot for a 3-day weekend. I’ve curated some of my favorite spots, new and old, around Atlanta. Atlanta is a mix of southern charm and city sophistication. Rich in history and culture, from the Civil War to the Civil Rights Movement, Atlanta has been at the center of historic moments in our country’s history. Did you know Atlanta is 177 years old, yep. There is a never-ending list of attractions, restaurants and shopping in Atlanta – you won’t be bored. So if you are near The A, do drop in and remember we only drink two things in Atlanta Coke or Sweet Tea! Welcome to The A!

What’s your favorite quick road-trip city?

Let’s Go…10 London Bits

Tower Bridge

Hello pretties,
It’s travel day. I’ve had so much fun with this feature on the blog. Travel opens your mind and gives you an appreciation for other cultures, it’s all good. I’m a picture taking fool and I wasn’t going to use the pic above but it’s a good depiction of life in London. A real Londoner going about his day with a backdrop of the Tower Bridge. Alright, Let’s Go, here are 10 bits about travel and about London!

1 – You will need an umbrella, it will rain. Now it’s not a torrential downpour, but you’ll need a brolly
2 – Even in a summer month, the days can be windy and of course rainy, get a lightweight jumper (a jacket) or a cute wrap
3 – Your best friend is the Oyster Card. It’s the golden ticket to all that is London
4 – There are a ton of hotels in London, but do book a spot close to a tube station. You’ll be glad you did
5 – Get some currency before you leave – you’ll have a few pounds and pence to tip your driver
6 – Get up and out upon arrival, it’ll help with jet lag and you’ll get the lay of the land
7 – London is a very walkable town, snag a comfy pair of walking shoes
8 – Eat local. Get out and discover good eats in the neighborhood
9 – Don’t worry about the price of souvenirs, if you like it, buy it. It will be cheaper or not cheaper at the next souvenir stand
10 – Organized tours are the bomb! You’ll see all the major attractions and get great commentary from a London insider

National History Museum

An update, the packing cubes worked so well, even had room for souvenirs.

I’d love to hear about your travels, where’s everybody been?? Do share?

I have nothing but love for London! The hotel was not only quite nice – but the staff treated us like Divas, very accommodating. We found Londoners to be friendly and helpful. I was a little leery about the food scene, but when I tell you everything we devoured was delicious, I’m soooo serious!!! London is known for huge markets(Camden and Portabello were awesome) and big names like Harrod’s (a shopper’s dream) and Selfridges. My favorite part of London? The tube. Best transportation system I’ve used while traveling!

That’s a peek at the vacay/bday trip. It was truly an amazing trip and I’m blessed to have had the opportunity to visit a beautiful city like London. Have an awesome day!

Let’s Go…No Really

Hi,
Yeah Let’s Go, for real. We’ve been looking at different aspects of travel for a few weeks now! You’ve got tips and tricks, luggage suggestions, neat travel accessories and even some pretty destinations. Travel is essential to broaden your horizons and that doesn’t mean you have to go to some exotic locale. You can find fun and adventure in your own backyard, your town.

Did you know we have 159 counties in Georgia, second highest right behind Texas? I haven’t visited half of those counties, think of all the new town squares, parks, farms, antique shops, restaurants, churches, attractions, and just overall interesting things in any town. Just Go, one day, grab a cooler, some sandwich fixings, chips, fruit, water, a sweet treat and a some sweet tea and hit the road. You never know what hidden treasure you might discover. Give it a go and let me know what county, city, state, or heck country we can add to the travel bucket list.

Just go…Happy Trails!
