Hello Pretties,
I’m so happy to be done with Christmas decorating. Every year I say I’m going to do less, but I get carried away and end up doing the most. Christmas decor really puts me in the holiday spirit and, putting up the Christmas tree gives me a pretty place to put all the Christmas goodies. Last post we talked about ornaments and creative ways to use them in your Christmas decor. Today is part 2 of the mini-series focused on Christmas trees with some examples of unique and different trees from my favorite home interior site, Houzz. I tend to use traditional Christmas decor colors such as, green, red, silver, and gold. But there is really no right way to decorate a Christmas tree. Home decor retailers offer Christmas trees in all colors – orange, pink, green, white, and even black. Once you select the color of your tree, you can pick the theme. It can be as traditional as angels or snowmen or as whimsical as Hello Kitty or Star Wars. A theme makes it easier to select coordinating ornaments to complement your theme. I encourage you lovelies to experiment with your color theme including your tree and ornaments. From the Houzz collection, I especially love the first tree and how the ornaments curve around the tree, almost like built-in garland. And that mirror, love it!

Which tree is your favorite? What colors do you use in your Christmas decor?

Hi Pretties,
Happy Monday! The weekend here was so cold and rainy and I have a feeling that we could have a white Christmas!!! That would be very cool, or brrr cold! 15 days until Christmas lovelies and today’s gift guide is for the blogger in ya’ life! This year marks 15 months of blogger bliss and yep I still love blogging. But a blogger needs some awesome tools and I’ve included a few for your shopping pleasure! Splurge on this tablet that’s a pc that’s a tablet! My blog is dope, enough said! That blogging planner is nice, love the spiral binding so you can keep all things together. kate spade usb, too cute and a great backup for the backup! Fashion is my passion and this pillow is perfect. The Canon Rebel, a blogger’s dream camera. A blogger finds inspiration everywhere, don’t miss a thing with this handy notebook with a built in pencil!

Another good gift is a trip to a blogging conference. There are so many blogger conferences to choose from, hosted in major cities around the country. Blogger conferences present first and foremost, the chance to meet other bloggers and build meaningful relationships. Second, classes to learn the basics of blogging from selecting a theme to adding social media icons to your blog and some advanced stuff as well such as branding and affiliate marketing. And of course, a chance to meet industry leaders and brands. You can find the movers and shakers in the blogging community and the big brands all under one roof. Not to mention the photo opps, parties, and swag bags! I’m still trying to decide which one to attend next year!

Blogging, line dancing, yoga, fishing, are you gifting for someone that has a passion?

The Details:
1-Car Coat and suede boots
2-Short trench and ankle bootie
3-Racer jacket and tall boot
4-Wool cape and leather pumps
5-Baby It’s Cold Outside – Betty Carter and Ray Charles

Hi Pretties,
Still reeling from last’s night episode of Scandal, can’t wait for next week’s season finale! Today’s Friday Faves is cold weather gear with complimentary footwear from my fave Coach! These are great choices for every occasion and incorporate some of this season’s best trends, leather, knee boots, capes and moto jackets. I really love the leather trimmed cape that reverses to a lovely hounds-tooth, wear it very lady like with a dress or suit for day but totally edgy with a sweater and jeans at night! The pumps are my other fave, simply elegant but the gold on the heel makes these a standout! Coach is an iconic American brand that represents classic, timeless, quality fashion. My favorite combo is number 1, you can’t go wrong with leather color-block and suede tall boots.

What’s your favorite?

Have a lovely weekend!

The Details:
1- Comfy shoes are a must, and these fit the bill
2- I’m in love with these bars, a healthy and tasty snack to keep your energy up
3- A cross-body is perfect to hold the essentials – phone, credit cards, and cash; the fold over flap and zippered compartment keeps your stuff safe
4- Stay hydrated with this fold-able and refillable water bottle
5- Yes, you’ll have lots of goodies for your Shopping Bags(De la Soul)

Hello Pretties,
6 Days before Black Friday! Next week this time, my shopping adventure will be done and I’ll be headed to breakfast! I’m making my budget and Christmas list now to be ready to snag some awesome deals on Friday. Now, as much as I love shopping, Thanksgiving Day shopping is NOT on the agenda. Shame on Retailers making their associates work when they should have time off to enjoy the day with their families. There is plenty of money to be made and it doesn’t have to be made on Thanksgiving. If you are shopping, show the cashiers, baggers, stockers, and wrappers some love! But come midnight, grabbing my shopping buds and we’re out the door. Today’s Friday Faves are some cool gear you’re going to need to get your shop on!

Are you shopping Black Friday?

Have a lovely weekend!

OOTD #31- Stripes!

November 20, 2013 by robincharmagne 10 Comments

stripes_robincharmagne

The Details:
Top (Target) – here
Pants(old) – similar here
Boots(old) – similar here
Jewelry – old, very old

Hi Pretties,
This OOTD was inspired by a recent “Pretty Perspective” on the robincharmagne Facebook page. On the Facebook cover page, I post a new handy dandy fashion tidbit each week. Last week, stripes were in the spotlight. For years, stripes were considered a fashion don’t for plus size women, but I think done correctly stripes work well for any body type. This stripe is wide and runs horizontally which makes the body appear leaner. The v-neck narrows the overall silhouette. The pants are a skinny ponte knit, a very wearable fabric. And the dark solid again makes for a slimmer overall silhouette. Of course boots are still on trend this year. This is a slouchy pair in a suede with the perfect heel height. I can wear these all day and my feet will still love me. And, the jewelry is old. Yes, statement necklaces are all the rage but sometimes with a stronger print such as stripes, simpler is better. I’ll probably re-run this outfit Thanksgiving day!

Do you wear stripes?

Friday Faves 31 – Best Man Edition

November 15, 2013 by robincharmagne 8 Comments

Friday Faves_The Best Man Holiday_robincharmagne

1 – It’s the holidays, these ladies are rocking some cute dresses
2 – Can’t wait to see the guys do their dance number in those fedoras
3 – A cell phone makes one of the funniest scenes in the movie
4 – This might be a tearjerker, better grab a pretty hanky
5 – The Best Man Holiday soundtrack is the truth, go get it

Hi Pretties,
It’s the weekend baby, yesss! It seems like Friday got here real fast, whoohoo! It’s Friday Faves and unless you’ve been hiding on a remote island, one of the most highly anticipated movies of the year opens tonight – The Best Man Holiday!! This is the sequel to The Best Man(1999) which is about a group of friends who gather for the wedding of Lance(Morris Chestnut) and Mia(Monica Calhoun) and told from the perspective of Harper(Taye Diggs), the best man. But of course lies are told and secrets revealed as the wedding day nears. Fast forward 15 years when these friends reunite again over the Christmas holidays. All the original cast is back and I swear they haven’t aged a day. This talented and beautiful cast includes – Monica Calhoun, Morris Chestnut, Melissa De Sousa, Taye Diggs, Regina Hall, Terrence Howard, Sanaa Lathan, Nia Long, and Harold Perrineau and yet again lies and secrets abound. These two movies are really about the good, the bad, and the ugly of friendships and relationships and how real friendships and real relationships can withstand the test of time and space. Check it out at your local theater!

Have the best weekend lovelies!!

Birch Box – November

November 14, 2013 by robincharmagne Leave a Comment

Hello Pretty ones,
Another cold day in The A, brrrr! It’s Birchbox time and I can’t believe my subscription is almost over with this, my 11th box. With the advent of the holiday season, this month’s theme is “More Good” as Birchbox teams up with No Kid Hungry donating a portion of sales to this worthy organization.

Beauty Protector Protect & Shampoo/Conditioner//Chella Highlighter Pencil//Chuao Chocolatier Popcorn Pop Chocolate Bar//Eyeko Black Magic Mascara in Black//

I have two faves from this box. First, mascara in a tube, yes. Unique packaging but the magic is in the sickle-shaped wand that creates beautiful thick lashes and is water-resistant lasting up to 12 hours. And an added feature is the Eyeko Shield that reduces smudging. My second favorite is the Pop Corn Pop (puffed whole grains/toasted corn chips) and it pops in your mouth, for real! At 60 calories a real treat.

The Birchbox Holiday Gift Guide is chocked full of gift ideas for everyone on your list from the foodie to the techie! And the section on stocking stuffers (my favorite) has some awesome gifts for the dudes and divas in your life!

OOTD #30 – Chill Mode

November 13, 2013 by robincharmagne 4 Comments

Faux Leather_skinnies_robincharmagne

The Details
Sweatshirt (Marshalls) – similar here
Skinnies (Eloquii) – similar here
Kicks (Coach) – similar here
Jewelry – various personal faves

Hey Pretties,
It is C-O-L-D in the A today, I mean like 30’s. So, I am in chill mode. When the temp drops and that wind starts howling, I really prefer to stay in and chillax in front of the tv watching a classic movie like Imitation of Life or Mildred Pierce, sipping on a hot cup of peppermint tea or chai latte. I need a chill mode outfit for these days and today’s OOTD is just the ticket – sweatshirt, skinnies, and kicks. That’s easy right!

The sweatshirt with faux leather accents at the arms and neck was a steal from Marshalls at $19.98. A good pair of skinnies go with everything and are just right for lounging, especially these with a touch of spandex. I’m not a sneaker chick at all but these patent leather sneakers from Coach have more ath-leisure look and I love the ribbon laces, very cool.

One of the most fun aspects of blogging is blogger giveaways. The necklace is a special piece I won in a giveaway sponsored by the lovely shopfreak. It’s from Charmedseed Jewelry and each piece is handmade, cut, letter-stamped, and distressed individually. And totally personalized, you can choose any word or phrase. I chose “powerful” because as women sometimes I think we forget just how powerful we are in this world. The other jewelry is some of my favorite more casual chill pieces like the rubber bracelet from Marc Jacobs, on sale now for $20 bucks – great stocking stuffer!

What’s your chill mode outfit?
