Father’s Day Gift Guide

Happy Monday pretties,
Let me tell you about Friday…it was nuts! At work, our systems were down until 3:00pm. Nothing to do without access to email or systems. I know there is a lesson in the technical glitches on Friday and I pray for awareness cause everythang happens for a reason! Life often teaches us lessons. That’s what Dad’s do too. My Dad taught me how to drive, change oil, change a tire, and work in the yard. Always teaching us a lesson on something because he always encouraged independence in me and my sister. I am blessed to still have him 74 years old and still a firecracker! So today I’m sharing some Father’s Day goodies. Now, I know I didn’t do a guide for Mom’s but Mom’s are always showered on Mother’s Day so I wanted to give the Dad’s some extra love. Take a peek…

I picked things that are actually my Dad’s faves. He loves everything except the aviator sunglasses and the fragrance. He is isn’t big on either of those and would never wear aviators! With a really nice album collection, he loves the record player and he is not leaving the house without a hat, preferably a Kangol. Yes my Dad wears Kangols…in 2015. I have no idea how much change he has accumulated but he will pick a coin in a second, even at my house, he picks up any coins he sees on the floor, on my dresser, any loose change is fair game. Any of these would be a nice gift on Father’s Day.

Workcation Edition – Feb Faves – Vlog #4

Hey Pretties,
I’m excited to bring you another vlog, my favorite goodies from my workcation. I had so much fun in Denver and shopping was of course a big part of the fun. And yes I skipped January because right after the holidays, I really didn’t buy too much. But the workcation was a good chance to catch some good sales before the stores start putting out Spring merchandise. I got some good deals for you. So without further adieu, lights camera, action!

I have been sleeping on DSW since I’m not a shoe girl, but the clearance section was the pretty awesome. Not only good prices on shoes, but other accessories as well, like handbags, wallets, scarves, even umbrellas. I have them on my radar now!

Bits And Baubles – Faves On Friday

Happy Friday,
Whoopee, I’ve been counting down to this weekend. I’m attending a formal event on Saturday and since I don’t get dolled up that often, it’s pretty exciting. Stay tuned for more deets next week. But today’s Faves on Friday are a few bits and baubles – just stuff that has been on my mind.

Fleek- I don’t know who came up with this word, but I HATE it! Here’s what it means, but please let’s banish this word and while you are at it, take conversate with you
Daylight Savings Time – It starts Sunday but it is not my favorite time of year but now you have longer days to GSD. I’m all for that
Pretty Storage – It is time to start thinking about Spring Cleaning, how about these pink boxes that come in a bunch of colors and will look great in your bedroom or bathroom
Will Smith – This dude is not aging a bit, you can go see for yourself and Focus on this handsome dude; and check your wallet the next time you “bump” into a stranger
Candles – It is time to vacay plan and these travel candles are too dang cute and not the least bit expensive

Animal Print Edition – Faves On Friday

Happy Valentine’s Day pretties,
It is so cold in The A, perfect snuggle weather for the holiday. Are y’all planning a wild Love Day? Well I’m wild about Empire and my favorite character is Cookie Lyon, played by the very talented Taraji P. Henson, who is wild about animal print. The clip showcases the fashion philosophy of the show some designer and some vintage. So cool to get the inside scoop on the fashion, and I do love the vintage feel of some of the pieces! Miss Cookie loves some animal print which can be a whole lotta much but you can rock animal print in small doses and still walk on the wild side. I’ve handpicked some faves all under $100. Take a peek.

My fave? Those animal print clothes! Would look so good with a nice black wool coat. Are you walking on the wild side?

It’s the weekend, love these short weeks! Coach is one of my favorite brands, an iconic American brand. Coach offers a full range of accessories and gifts – including handbags, small leather goods, shoes, boots, outerwear, watches, travel accessories, scarves, eye-wear, fragrance, and jewelry, for women and men. Coach can be pricey with some handbags and outerwear upwards of $1000, yikes! But, I’ve curated some goodies from the Fall 2014 line, all under $200. My favorite? The Art Of The Thank You Note

How was your weekend? Mine was very quiet. I was so tired from birthday festivities that I really needed a couple of days to do nothing. I took some time to really look at the birthday gifts and I was yet again in tears, as my friends and family were so thoughtful in their gift giving. These days with email this and text that, or post this status, I could easily send a digital thank you. But I’m old school and love handwritten thank you notes. I appreciate the time taken to select and purchase these gifts so a personal thank you note is in order.

How to Write a Thank You Note

What you’ll need:
Note cards/stationary
Postage stamps
A good pen
Address list
A few heartfelt lines to express your sincere appreciation, mention the gift by name if you like, and a nice closing

Sisterly Friendships

Hey pretties!!!
I’m back!!! I’m attempting to write this post without boo-hooing, but the weekend was better than I ever imagined. The theme for the brunch was Mimosas and Maxis. I asked my girls to wear their favorite maxi dress and they delivered. Such fashionistas! The folks at 4th and Swift prepared a beautiful and delicious brunch and never ending mimosas, even creating a personalized menu for the day! If you’re ever in The A, check them out!

It was my 50th birthday, but it was really a day to celebrate sisterly friendships because the word sister rang out over and over.

I commissioned these custom bracelets as gifts for the sister friends. The green bead symbolizes life, the purple bead for royalty, since Leos are Queens of the jungle, the dress charm for our fashion theme and the infinity charm for endless friendships. I’m a cookie monster so I also gifted the ladies these custom cookies. So pretty and so good!

It is essential that as women we form bonds with other women. These sister friends have stood by my side during the good, the bad, and the ugly that life sometimes brings-they have my back. These sister friends are family, friends, high school classmates, college classmates, sorority sisters, and co-workers, with many relationships 20 years or longer. My sister friends call me sister, lil sister, big sister, friend, confidante, cheerleader, mentor and of course diva…LOL I love them and I feel immensely blessed to have them in my life, thank you God. What a time we had! So happy!

Gearing up now for vacation, more to come on that!
