The Weekend And An Award

July 7, 2014 by robincharmagne 20 Comments

weekend fun; weekend

Hey there,
July 4th weekend was a lot of fun! I cheered on one of my really good friends as she did her first Peachtree Road Race. This is a huge (yeah 60,000 people) 6.2 mile race held every 4th of July in The A. I did this race in 2011 and it was so cool to be at the race again watching many folks doing it for the first time, but a whole lot of folks keeping a tradition. Of course, no holiday weekend is complete without good Mexican food and some spirits. I know, I know, Mexican food isn’t on my healthy eating plan, but somehow it’s becoming the norm for the weekend. I had a refreshing mojito and then posed for the camera too! And, I caught the 4th installment of Transformers. This movie did not disappoint, big – loud explosions, evil villains, great special effects, and the cars and trucks!!! I love the Transformer franchise but I’m wondering when will they have a female voiced Transformer? I’m writing somebody about this, girl power!

An Award

If that wasn’t enough fun for the weekend, sweet blogger Merrie at Petite Career Girl nominated me for a Very Inspiring Blogger Award. Thanks Merrie!

7 Sizzling Summer Songs

June 23, 2014 by robincharmagne 12 Comments

Hello,
Saturday was the summer solstice, the first day of summer. I’m a summer baby but I’m not a big fan of the hot weather, but I do like the summer jams! I’ve curated 7 of my favorites that really get me in the mood for cookouts, pool parties, summer vacation and of course my birthday! These summer songs bring back so many memories – Freak-nic, clubbing eery dang Sunday – yeah – so bad on Sunday, and just kicking it with my girls! Now I fiddled and fiddled with the playlist and it wouldn’t play…bummmer!! But you can visit Spotify and listen for free! Oh, fair warning – adult lyrics.

Do you have a summer jam? Oh that #7, I remember that time at the club when…nevamind… Have a Marvelous Monday!

What’s On TV?

June 6, 2014 by robincharmagne 4 Comments

summer tv shows, sci-fi tv shows

Hello,
Happy Friday pretties! What a positive, peaceful and productive week and looking forward to an even better weekend. TV has been pretty boring with so many re-runs, but thank goodness for the summer tv lineup. This month marks the start of some really good tv watching while I wait for the return of Scandal and The Walking Dead. I’m sharing some of my favorite summer tv shows from CBS, TNT, and USA Network.

Summer TV Shows

Graceland – airs on Wed @10 on USA Network

A beautiful beach setting and a bunch of good looking under cover DEA, FBI, and Customs agents living their own lies. Gritty story-lines based on real life events. The setting and hip vibe of this show make it fun to watch.

Extant – airs on Wed @9 on CBS

Halle Berry is no stranger to the sci-fi genre – Hey Storm!! So it is no surprise to find her starring in this interesting show about an astronaut (Molly) who spends a year in space and comes back home pregnant – oh yeah, did I tell you Molly is infertile! Add a son who was “created” and this is sure to be a winner.

Falling Skies – airs on Sun @9 on TNT

Back for season 4!!Aliens come to earth and make the kids their slaves, WTW! A ragtag bunch of everyday folks, teachers, military, and biker boys lead by Noah Wiley fight the aliens and sometimes themselves.

Under the Dome – airs on Mon @10 on CBS

Talk about cray cray, not that aliens aren’t but imagine being cutoff from the rest of the world by an invisible dome. Yeah, that’s what happens. The town has to figure out how to survive and where did this dome come from. Survival of the fittest for real!

Big Brother – airs on Wed @8 on CBS

$500,000 is on line in this wacky reality/game show. Contestants live in a very cool house completely cutoff from the outside world and filmed 24/7. Each week they compete for Head of Household, who gets to dine on “slop” for the week and who gets evicted from the house. Oh the shenanigans on the this show – Big Brother After Dark, yes ratchet tv! Can’t believe I have watched 15 seasons of this show.

Royal Pains – airs on Tue @9 on USA

My favorite Hamptons Concierge Doctor – think MacGyver with an MD. Confession time, I watch this show for the cars, clothes, and beautiful mansions. Love Evan, he is a riot!!

What are you watching this summer?

Have a lovely weekend!!!

Fun, Food, and Festivals

Inman Park Festival, festivals in Atlanta

Hey pretties,
What a lovely weekend, a breezy and sunny day in The A, picture perfect. One of my favorite things to do, especially when the weather cooperates, is to hit up one of the many festivals in the area. Festival fun was on my Spring To-do List.

Inman Park Festival

Inman Park is one of the oldest neighborhoods in Atlanta founded in 1890. A bit of history, The Battle of Atlanta was fought in Inman Park in 1864. The festival includes a parade and a tour of homes, as well as the artists market and fun for the kids in the kidzone. This was the 43rd year of the festival and it did not disappoint. Lots of interesting art – guitars made out of cigar boxes, beautiful handmade jewelry, handmade apothecary, fresh baked bread, modern birdhouses, and eco/fair trade goodies. Oh yeah, lots of good food – the longest line was for sooba noodles. Who knew! The music was really good, especially the young lady playing the violin, outstanding!

If you’re visiting the Atlanta area in the near future, stop by one of these fun festivals:

atlanta jazz festival

May 23

Buckhead Arts Festival, arts festival in atlanta

May 10

Sweet Auburn Festival

May 9

Share a cool festival in your town! I’m ready for some smooth jazz!

5 Things I Use Everyday

April 14, 2014 by robincharmagne 4 Comments

5 Things

Hellooo!
If you’re anything like me, you’re a creature of habit. You have your stuff that you use all the time, your go-to products. Today I’m sharing five things I use everyday.

Coffeemaker– My Morning Blend brews up in less that two minutes
Lotion-This signature scent is so old school and moisturizes without that greasy feeling
Pencil-27 years I’ve used this brand. Makes a nice smooth line and stays sharp so less pulling around the eye
iPod-Keeps me thoroughly entertained with smooth tunes and fun podcasts
Slipper-I work from home so need for cute heels(kinda miss that…NOT), but a good “house shoe” is a must

I’m tempted to use the latest and greatest products and have tried a few other goodies from time to time. But I always come back to these 5 things that are tried and true and never fail. Makes everyday a good day. Interesting thing about the Lancome eyeliner pencil. It was $12.50 when I first started buying it and fast forward to 2014, it’s now almost $30 bucks, but well worth it.

Do you have an everyday favorite?

River Seine, Paris,

Image source: personal photo,The River Seine – Paris, France

Hi there,
That quote is so true. I am a strong believer in vacations, staycations, getaways, day trips, any place that gives me time to relax and recharge. I’m excited today to start a new Thursday series of sorts – Let’s Go. This series will focus on places to go all over the world. Some places I’ve had the pleasure of visiting and some I’ve only visited in my dreams! My mantra for YOU is just go!!

Passport

First on the itinerary is the passport. Do you have one? Oh cool! Need to get one? Okay, here is a neat infographic on how to get a passport so you can go!
passport, how to get a passport

Doesn’t that sound easy? The current fee is $165 for a passport book and card with regular processing. You can find out more here.

I’m ready to go, hope you are too – where should we go first? Would love to hear your suggestions.
