Friday Fan

scandal, shonda rhimes

Hi pretties,
I’m am so done, from 8-11 I was in a trance watching ABC tv. I’m a big fan of Shonda Rhimes and today I’m totally pooped from all the craziness of last night’s television watching. I still love Grey’s and Scandal. Not sure about How To Get Away With Murder, but I will give it another week. Poor Friday, nobody will be watching your shows because, we’re still recuperating from Thursday’s shows. Oh and the fashion was amazing as usual! I’m off to get a BIG cup of coffee to keep me awake…is it 5:30 yet??

Have a restful weekend!

Hi Pretty Scandalistas,
Yes, it is that time – Scandal is BACK! I for one am happy to see the return of Olivia Pope and her Gladiators! I love this show for the twist and turns and downright cray-cray shenanigans of Papa Pope, Mama Pope, Fitz, Cyrus, and my fave Huck!. But I really love Scandal fashion even more. So today to pay homage to the ever trendsetting style of Olivia Pope, I’m suited up!…

OOTD #41 – Football and Fashion

September 3, 2014 by robincharmagne 16 Comments

football, plus size cardigan, red pants

pants (similar)//sweater (similar)//tank (similar)

Hey Pretties,
Happy Wednesday! This Sunday marks the opening of football season. Y’all know I’m not a sports girl but I love The A and the Falcons! We take football pretty seriously in the South right down to the fashion. Today’s OOTD pays homage to the Dirty Birdz, in red, black, and white! Red is actually my favorite color so I was happy to snag these pants from Lane Bryant two years ago – first time rocking the red pants. They are made for curvy, petites so the fit and length are perfect. The black sweater is another London goodie from Primark at 12 pounds, about $20 bucks. I love the pretty collar with the pearl flowers and the cute buttons. What draws Londoners to Primark is the low-priced fashion. Quite the shopping experience – the store was so crowded, it felt like Christmas in August. And, just a plain white tank to layer under the sweater. Now this OOTD is a little dressy to enjoy some Falcons football. So here’s another OOTD that I would rock on Sunday!

atlanta falcons, football

My easy football outfit – favorite Falcons tee, jeans, and tennis shoes!

What do you wear to cheer on your favorite football team?

Nikki Can Cook

July 21, 2014 by robincharmagne 4 Comments

cooking class 1

Hello,
I hope the weekend rocked for everyone. It was kinda rainy most of the weekend, but the rain did not stop the fun. I scratched another thing off the bucket – a cooking class. Saturday me and some of my girlfriends attended Cooking and Cocktails with Nikki.

Cooking and Cocktails

Nikki Bell has been cooking since she was 7 years old. A self-taught Chef, Nikki was one of 16 home cooks from across the U.S. that competed for a $50,000 cash prize in the Food Network’s new culinary competition series America’s Best Cook. Nikki credits her love of cooking to her grandmother. She shared stories about cooking from the Betty Crocker cookbook alongside her beloved grandmother.

cooking food

For Cooking and Cocktails, we feasted on chicken breasts stuffed with artichokes, sun-dried tomatoes, and goat-cheese accompanied by couscous. Nikki guided us through this simple, yet delicious and nutritious meal. The chicken was moist and the stuffing was full of flavor. I’ve had couscous at some pretty nice restaurants, but this dish was melt in your mouth good. While preparing this fantastic meal, Nikki gave us tips on finding quality cooking utensils at stores like Marshalls, T.J. Maxx, and Ross – checkout the home section at these discount retailers. She urged us to buy the freshest ingredients from a farmer’s market or from stores like Aldi.

cooking class 3
To finish off our meal, Nikki prepared an “ice cream” of frozen bananas, apricot preserves, and almond milk using a NutriBullet. Y’all it was so good – I’m buying a NutriBullet as soon as they go on sale. I topped my ice cream with balsamic strawberries. Oh gosh, so good!
cooking class 4

I asked Nikki what was her takeaway from her Food Network experience, “Don’t be afraid to go for it and salt your pasta water!”. This was a good experience and Nikki’s down to earth approach to cooking has me thinking yeah maybe I could whip up some stuffed chicken and couscous. Learn more about Nikki at her website Nikki Can Cook and grab a cookbook and some spices.

Vacation Reads

July 18, 2014 by robincharmagne 6 Comments

3360048_s
Hello,
Ahhh it’s Friday! This has been a challenging week, well the last two days. But it’s all good. How was your week? Not too much planned for the weekend. Scratching another fun thing off the bucket list tomorrow, more to come on Monday. Finalizing the last bits for the big b-day, just eight days away. After the b-day is countdown to vacation and who doesn’t love a good read on vacation. I’ve curated a few I’m itching to read and re-read.
vacation reads

The Reads

one – Sophia Amoruso is the CEO of Nasty Gal, a wildly successful online fashion site – $16.17
two – A marriage gone awry, soon to be a movie – $8.97
three – A classic from a beloved author, poet, speaker, and activist. A must read and re-read – $4.90
four – The trailer had me near tears, should be a page turner – $7.78
five– A sci-fi fix, sort of. Will catch the movie too – $5.65

These should keep me entertained, enlightened and just plain excited. Grab one of these awesome reads and a cute tote!

What are your fave vacation reads?
