Kickstart Your Reading List – Giveaway

January 8, 2018 by robincharmagne 4 Comments

readlinglist-robincharmagne

Hello pretties,
I’m so excited today to share two of my favorite books and the first giveaway of 2018. All over social media I am seeing a lot of people committing or re-committing to reading more in 2018. Between family, work and other commitments, it can be a struggle to find the time to sit quietly and read. I know it’s hard for me to find some free time. But one way to kickstart your reading habit is to start small, with shorter books that pack a punch. I have handpicked two of my favorites to get you started.

The Books

The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz
This might be my most favorite book. No mysteries, romance or science fiction, just 4 common sense ways to just be a better person. The language is simple to follow so you can easily apply these tips to your daily life. My favorite agreement – Be impeccable with your word. Makes a fantastic gift for high school or college grads.

Successful Women Think Differently: 9 Habits to Make You Happier, Healthier, and More Resilient by Valorie Burton
I have read so many of Valorie Burton books because she writes with a biblical perspective. In this book, she outlines 9 habits that will make you think differently, it all starts in the mind. This is really kinda of a workbook with questions to answer and exercises and stories from successful women. My favorite habit – Stop trying to fix your weaknesses. Another great gift idea.

I enjoyed reading both of these, more than once I might add…LOL Self-help, motivational type books are a fave. I am always looking for ways to be better just all around in life – home, work, family relationships, friendships, etc. You are never too old to learn new things or new ways of thinking. I believe you all will like them too so I’m giving away both books along with a couple of surprises. Just enter using the Rafflecopter below!

If We Were Having Coffee – VI

June 23, 2017 by robincharmagne 5 Comments

Hello pretties,
It’s Friday and I’m sitting down with a cup of Caramel Macchiato ready to have a fab Friday! Here’s what I would share If We Were Having Coffee…

1. I think I have my blogging groove back. Yesss, it took some time to get my mind right and get all my post ideas and photos organized and planned out. But it is on now and my 5-year blogaversary is coming up to boot!
2. I love a good book, especially a book that is informative and challenges my thinking. This book The Slight Edge meets both. Simple steps you can take everyday to make positive changes in your life. Good read!
3. I am not the biggest fan of Chris Brown, but I have to say his docu-movie really opened my eyes to the perils of success for these young superstars. He is really talented – sings, dances, acts, draws, paints, and is an athlete as well. Check out Chris Brown: Welcome To My Life. If he walks the straight and narrow, he could be the next Michael Jackson!
4. I love these Gucci Marmont mules, but I found a good dupe at Charlotte Russe at a much lower price point. You be the judge…LOL
5. If you are traveling to a cool locale with a pretty language, The Urban Eve has some cool tips for learning a foreign language!

I’m ready for the weekend and ready to get out and enjoy summer! What are you doing this weekend?

Miracle Morning – Book Review – Monday Musing

March 6, 2017 by robincharmagne 8 Comments

Hello pretties,
Miracle Morning Monday to you! In getting my mind right to get back to blogging, I listened to a fab book, The Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod. This book was so dang good and really a simple concept – start your day with a series of rituals that take you to what Hal calls a “level 10” life. An easy way to remember these rituals is with a short acronym called SAVERS.

Silence, Affirmation, Visualization, Exercise, Reading, Scribing

I think I can safely say most of us want to continually improve our lives by going to that next level. Hal says to do that, we have to set ourselves up everyday for success by doing these simple things that move us forward. I love how he refers to successful people throughout the book with quotes, love positive quotes. My favorite:

How you do anything, is how you do everything – T. Harv Eker

SAVERS

1 – Silence – Spend some quiet time with yo’ self, no phone, tv, or tablet.
2 – Affirmation – Pick a phrase that resonates with you, your daily guide – Mine- I have all I need live the life I want.
3 – Visualization – If you don’t have a vision board, get one. Don’t know how, blogger Whitney Nic James shows you how here.
4- Exercise – This quote from The Miracle Morning sums it up!

If you don’t make time for exercise you’ll probably have to make time for illness -Robin Sharma

5 – Reading – Read something everyday. According to Hal, if you read 10 pages a day, that adds up to 18 books a year!
6 – Scribing – Better known an journaling. Grab a cute journal and just start writing down some thoughts for the day.

I found these routines to be extremely helpful in being productive and consistent each morning, which helps me be productive and consistent with my blogging life. Hal also has a Facebook Group if you desire to be in the company of others seeking that “level 10” life! I challenge you to wake a bit early and start the SAVERS. I am pretty sure you are all ready doing some of these things each day! Check out The Morning Miracle with this – Audible Free Trial [Digital Membership].

What are some of your morning routines?

July 18, 2014 by robincharmagne 6 Comments

Hello,
Ahhh it’s Friday! This has been a challenging week, well the last two days. But it’s all good. How was your week? Not too much planned for the weekend. Scratching another fun thing off the bucket list tomorrow, more to come on Monday. Finalizing the last bits for the big b-day, just eight days away. After the b-day is countdown to vacation and who doesn’t love a good read on vacation. I’ve curated a few I’m itching to read and re-read.
vacation reads

The Reads

one – Sophia Amoruso is the CEO of Nasty Gal, a wildly successful online fashion site – $16.17
two – A marriage gone awry, soon to be a movie – $8.97
three – A classic from a beloved author, poet, speaker, and activist. A must read and re-read – $4.90
four – The trailer had me near tears, should be a page turner – $7.78
five– A sci-fi fix, sort of. Will catch the movie too – $5.65

These should keep me entertained, enlightened and just plain excited. Grab one of these awesome reads and a cute tote!

What are your fave vacation reads?
