Hello pretties,
I’m back, for good this time. Oh my word I missed robincharmagne so much, but life happened and I got wayyy off track. What better time to come back, than my 5 year anniversary! Woot woot! What a learning experience this has been over these last 5 years. I knew nothing about blogging and just dived in and I am still swimming. Today I am sharing what I learned and of course mixed in is an OOTD featuring Gwynnie Bee! Let’s celebrate!
5 Years Blogging – Things I Learned
It is harder than it looks
Blogging requires a lot of time – an average outfit post is easily 4 hours from outfit selection, location scouting, shooting pics, editing pics, writing blog post, editing blog post, and finally posting. But wait there’s more – social media engagement. So once the post goes public, then it is posted on various social media platforms and finally engagement with other readers, bloggers and influencers. I get so much joy from blogging that time breezes by when I am in my groove with a blog post. But it is far more time consuming than I imagined and I love it.
Don’t go it alone
Tribe is everything with blogging. Quite frankly, it took me awhile to figure that out. My independent spirit and introverted nature, sort of put me in a blogging bubble. Real talk, I really started to enjoy blogging when I attended my first blogging conference and found so many kind, smart, driven women, that I knew I wanted to connect more with other bloggers. Best move I have made. The friendships made have been invaluable – from bouncing around ideas, random photo-shoots, to collabs, connection – is the best part of blogging.
Find the right social media platform
Not all platforms work for every blogger. Instagram is bae for me so I post as consistently as I can which means at least daily. Twitter – getting the hang of it by tweeting on occasion as practice. Facebook – learned but always looking for ways to build and engage my community. Snapchat – not even…. I found the platform that brings me the most enjoyment and engagement so I am sticking with Instagram.
Change is inevitable
What is hot today is not tomorrow. Things change fast in the blogging world and you have to be ready to switch gears when new platforms, e.g. Instagram, live streaming, etc. are introduced. Live streaming is all the rage and I am still on the fence about “going live.”
Burnout is real
Blog posts require a significant amount of planning, executing and yes money. Putting together an on-trend outfit or snapping just the right pics for a travel review can get to be too much. Or, writers block creeps up and you can’t make one sentence. And let’s not talk about if family priorities change or there are life changing events, then blogging takes a back seat, you just do not make it a priority. Last year was a total downer and I just did not even feel like putting in the effort to blog and felt no inspiration. It has taken a few months to get my blogging mojo back and celebrating 5 years was just the ticket to get me back to something I truly enjoy!

Hey Shay! Thank you! Girl we are all still trying to get the the hang of it LOL!
Happy 5th Blogging Anniversary!!!! ☺ Love your dress, shoes, and purse from today’s outfit.
I’ve been having a hard time blogging lately. It’s partially burnout and also just lack of time. So I agree burnout is real, but having your tribe to support you makes it worth it.

Hey Sonia thank you. Oh I feel you sometimes that that burnout is serious. I am loving your sewing journey.
Hey Gorgeous Sister Friend,
I’m so glad you’re back on the scene giving us all that fabulousness! Totally agree with you, don’t take this journey alone you definitely have to have balance and a ride or die or your side to give you positive vibes even when you think there are none to give. Can’t wait to indulge on your new sharings.

Happy 5th Blogaversary girl!!! Yeah, blogging is hard and can burn you out. When I start feeling like I have nothing to write about I hire paid ghost writers to step in, or I get ideas from press releases.
Cheers to another 5 years! And by the way, you’re looking so beautiful!
